Staten Island is the most physically separated and least populous borough in New York City. It is separated from Long Island by the Narros and from New Jersey by the Arthur Kill and Kill Van Kull. The Staten Island Borough also includes several unihabited islands..

Staten Island is sometimes referred to as "The Forgotten Borough," mainly due to the notority of the other four boroughs; however The Staten Island Ferry, that connects it with Manhattan, is a very popular tourist attraciton. Although there has been an increase in population, Staten Island remains the most suburban of the boroughs in New York City, even after the 1964 construction of the Verrazno Narrows Bridge that allowed for quicker travel between New Jersey, Brookly and the rest of New York City.
